SINGING FOR FUN

This is what we do:

We sing unaccompanied usually in 3 or occasionally 4 part harmony. This is not as difficult as it sounds!

Our tutor, Rose Hodgson is experienced, enthusiastic and extremely encouraging. She is a trained Natural Voice practitioner and she teaches each part at a pace to suit us and in a very informal way. You'll be amazed at what we achieve at the end of each session.

Our repertoire ranges across many genres of music and Rose chooses an interesting cocktail which provides stimulation and challenge. Included are traditional, folk, international, spiritual, blues, lullabies, and some golden oldies - all with a seasonal influence.

The enjoyment between the group and tutor is mutual and between 20 and 30 members attend each time. We have a small but growing section of male singers and would very much welcome some more men.

We don't use sheet music, hold auditions or do concerts. It really is just for fun. All you need is your natural voice and an enjoyment of singing and laughter. And of course we always have a tea break in the middle of the session!

'If you don't have a go - then you may never know'

Are any of these comments familiar to you?

“I can't sing"
"I was excluded from the school choir"
"My sister told me I couldn't sing so I gave up"
"My partner laughs and makes fun when I sing around the house"

At least 50% of the current group membership have said these things. No previous singing experience is required by SfF and no need to read music either.
